What to Expect When You Visit Us
What should I wear?
We do not have a dress code. Most people at our services wear their best, but "best" varies from person to person. The most important thing is that you are present.
What is your worship like?
Worship is "corporate" which means everyone is encouraged to participate. We sing acapella which means that we do not use musical instruments in our worship. (Mt. 26:30, Ephesians 5:19; Hebrews 13:15).
We take communion every first day of the week. (Acts 20:7) Communion is a memorial with two emblems: unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine. Communion is a privilege that belongs to God's children. Whether or not you take communion is your choice.
Christians give to the Lord on the first day of the week. Giving is a personal decision. We do not expect our guests to make a contribution unless they choose to do so.
Do you have child care?
We have Little Lambs which is a class for children from 9 months to 3 years of age. This is located in the third classroom in the hallway on the west side of the auditorium. You can drop your child off there before worship and return to pick them up following the worship service.
There is also a nursery located adjacent to that classroom for mothers who need to take their babies younger than 9 months. This is not staffed.
Upcoming Events & Important Dates
February 26: Special Studies Night - There will be a special training session for all teachers of classes from birth - 6th grade. It is strongly encouraged that all teachers attend.
March 4 - First Sunday Fellowship and Afternoon Worship - Meal Theme: Chili, Soup and Sandwiches
March 11 - Bridal Shower for Jerica Johnston, bride elect of Avery Pressley; 2:00-3:30 in the Fellowship Hall. They are registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Target & Kohl's.
March 11 - BVH will be hosting the Area Wide Youth Devotional.
April 16-17 - Kelsey Goodwin Memorial Golf Tournament.
The Way of the Cross
The Way of the Cross is a TV show that is sponsored by our congregation. You can watch this show on TV 24 on Saturdays at 6:00 p.m. and on Sundays 7:00 a.m. The show can be found on CableOne - Channel 9, Gadsden Cable - Channel 8 and Talladega Cable - Channel 47.
